About Pete's Caregiver

My name is Kathi and I'm not a veterinarian (although I am married to one...but that doesn't count).  For over twenty years I have been a huge fan of pugs.  I spent years reading about them, researching the breed, and coming to a very important understanding of just what it takes to care of them...well.  It wasn't until a few years ago that I felt truly ready to do the job justice and after many unsuccessful attempts to even get the attention of pug breeders in Canada and the states, Pete came into my life.

We met through the Victoria Humane Society and after a week of back and forth, Pete was driving with us to his new home (not after biting my husband a few times).  The first week of living with Pete was all I needed to know he was in desperate need of some training.  I hooked him up with a trainer and a pack walker and the rest is history (history I will share on this blog).  I have learned a lot through trial and error, but most of all, I have learned that most pug owners are overlooking some important steps to care their pugs desperately need.

I'm a follower of Doug the Pug and watch many pug clips on Youtube.  I love pug pictures, pug outfits, pug events, and continue to freak out in the car or on the street when I see other pugs and their owners walking together. I always thought I would dress my pug up in little outfits (like you see on-line) but once I met Pete I soon understood that not all pugs love the outfits.  At times, Pete will put the odd sweater or halloween costume on just to humour me but generally speaking, it's not his bag...and I have to respect that.

I did, kinda, force this one on him last Halloween.  You can see from his expression that he's not that pleased.
