All About Pete

Peter Neil Cameron was initially born and raised in Victoria, BC for the first three years before being relinquished by his previous caregivers due to his unruly behaviour.  He was adopted by a family living on the North end of Vancouver Island and has enjoyed a life of "boot camp" behavioural therapy coupled with regular walks, healthy food, and the care he needs (and every dog needs) to live a happy and healthy life.

Pete came to the North Island unable to socialize with other dogs and with a firm belief that he was the alpha dog of the household.  It took over two years of consistent training and attention to successfully socialize him with others (albeit we still have some work to do).

Pete is an outdoor enthusiast and resides on Vancouver Island.

By virtue of his breed, one would assume certain characteristics and protocols to consider, but he has broken many of the moulds presented on line through many pug sites.  It is because of this, we are writing, recording, and sharing many of his health tips with other pugs owners (and prospective pug owners) so that other pugs may also enjoy the pug life.
On his downtime, he likes to enjoy the beauty of his backyard.

Pete has just turned 5 and has lived his last 2 years with his new (forever) family.  Recently he had to say goodbye to over 17 teeth (something common with the breed) and we look forward to more in the future.  Pete hates going to the veterinarian and is well-known by the staff at his vet hospital as "ornery" (a very nice term for what he turns into on the table),  but he can look forward to annual visits full of check ups, vaccinations, and oral health care!

He's a creature of habit in the mornings but after a bit of coaxing is able to remove himself from the comforts of bed to enjoy his regular morning walk.  For over two years, he and his caregiver have only missed one two walks (and that was all his decision).

When Pete manages to take time out his busy schedule (of organized and naptime), he is able to enjoy a few of his favorite past times including spending time with his teddy, chewing on his bull's penis (no judgement), and exploring the many trail systems in his community.  Although he seems to have no time for the smaller breeds, he enjoys socializing (and sometimes trying to control) the larger ones.
